In the 21st Century Church many self professing evangelical Christians are caught up in ancient medieval and neo-mystical practices under the mistaken belief that they are involved in authentic Christian Worship of the one true God.

These practices are endorsed by too many in leadership without research, or experience of the disciplines that gave birth to them.

Contemplative Mysticism

Presents itself in the guise of Spiritual Formation / Contemplative Prayer or Centering Prayer (Mystic Meditation) induced via Mantras (Lecto Divinia, the Jesus Prayer, the Rosary, Sacred Words, & the Stations of the Cross) / Labyrinth Walking (Egyptian Occultism) / Altars & Sacred Spaces (External & Internal Space) / Iconography & Incense (Idols / Iconic Symbols / Statues / Incense / Joss Sticks ) Quieting and Stilling the Mind (Suppressing Your Thoughts: Transcendental Meditation)

By merging or integrating pagan philosophy and practice with genuine Christian forms of worship, a subtle form of deception takes root within the Church, whereby even the elect can become confused and led astray, it leads to a shallow form of biblical interpretation which elevates God's love beyond His righteousness, and justice.
