Altered States of Consciousness

Altered states of consciousness are a psychological phenomena brought on by psychotic events, many of which can be self-induced. Psychologists and psychiatrists induce such states via medication, or hypnosis during counselling sessions.

Religious fanatics induce such states via meditation techniques, drugs, or frenzied states of ecstatic emotional experience usually brought on by prolonged changes in consciousness; these can be caused, for example, by trances, music or self hypnosis.

There appears to be little evidence of distinction between these altered states of consciousness, however induced (via medical or religious practice), that separate them into specific 'spiritual experience' other than the religious beliefs and practices of the moment.

Often these states appear to have an intensity of felt energy - that accompanies deeper meditative states, and this energy is misinterpreted in the Christian parlance as extremely powerful experiences of God the Holy Spirit's presence, or the internal fusion of our human soul and spirit with the very essence of God (Deification).../

Or in the Hindu parlance, Kundalini energy is the power of the cosmos (the very life-force of all things), the fusion of human soul and spirit with the raw power of the cosmos.../

Or in the New Age parlance, the fusion of human soul and spirit, with the Cosmic Christ (a blend of Hindu, Christian and Occult beliefs).

Sentinel Research Ministries: will explore this phenomena and provide information that exposes the root and branch of this teaching and practice.
