His Humanity
In summary, Jesus was born just as all human babies are born (Lk.2:7), God the Holy Spirit brought about the conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary, the child was to be call holy, the Son of God. Because God brought about the conception of Jesus, in the absence of a human father, He broke the line of descent from Adam, so that Jesus did not share inherited sin from Adam.
The Holy Spirit's work in the womb of Mary, prevented transmission of sin from both Adam, and Joseph, his adopted human father, but also the transmission of sin from Mary.
Jesus though born in human form, did not inherit sin, and was 'sin free' throughout his life.
- Jesus had a human body - just like ours - subject to the same weaknesses
- Jesus had a human mind - just like ours - and increased in wisdom from childhood to adulthood, and as he did so he grew in favour with God and Man.
- Jesus had a human soul and human emotions - just like us - he learned obedience though what he suffered in childhood, and as a adult in difficult circumstances, leading to his death upon the cross at Golgotha
- Jesus had a genuine human body, mind, soul and emotions, yet he remained free from sin, despite his trials and temptations, because he was also fully God, and Scripture tells us that 'God cannot be tempted with evil' (James 1:13)
- Jesus' trials and temptations, were very real in his humanity, but God through the Holy Spirit, strengthened him in his humanity through suffering and obedience, to the point of resisting temptation and remaining sin free... (Heb. 4:15)
