What is Sin?

According to the Scriptures, the history of the human race is the history of mankind in a rebellious state of Sin against God, and of God's plan to redeem mankind, and bring the human race back to Himself.

So what is 'Sin' and how does Scripture define it?

Scripture defines Sin in relationship to God's law and His moral character. Any failure is to conform, is viewed as sinful rebellion against God.: 'everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness' (1 John 3:4)

Therefore, we may define Sin as follows:

"Sin is any failure to conform to the moral law of God in act, attitude, or nature."

To blame God for sin would be blasphemy against the character of God:

'...His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of faithfulness and

without iniquity, just and upright is He' (Deut. 32:4)
